I called Jay Tollefson after the hail loss in summer of 2013. He met with my adjuster and they found damage. We signed up and it took three weeks from contract date to the start of work which seemed like a long time seeing everyone else said they could start that week. Other roofs our sizes were done in one or two days. Our roof took over four days to complete because only half the crew showed up and the foreman was gone most of the time. It drizzled one morning and they left and never came back. Other crews returned to their jobs but not mine... Other annoying habits were loud swearing and complaining by the crew. They dropped two roofing pitchforks on my brand new composite deck and left two holes, (Which Jay did compensate me for in the end). The last thing that really got me was the clean up by the crew. I had to go borrow a magnet from a neighboring crew and after going around my house I had collected a gallon size plastic bag full of nails, staples and sharp pieces of metal. My son was 14 months old at the time and my one request from my wife was that the cleanup be thorough so we didn't have to worry about him running around in the yard. After going up onto the roof to inspect everything I noticed that the gutters were full of nails and staples as well as chunks of shingles and tar paper. There was also shingles in the trees and on the lawn. The gutters were done by Tollefson as well and with the exception of taking three days to complete, they were done very well and professionally.
Tollefson Bros. Exterior, Inc. was recommended to me by my neighbor who had his house siding done by the company. Tollefson Bros. changed my home wood siding with vinyl siding in 2003. In addition to residing my home, the company also replaced five of pictured wood windows to maintenance free vinyl windows. The crew that was assigned to work on my home were courteous, polite and very responsive to my requests for minor changes and questions I raised. They performed an outstanding job in both replacing the siding and installing the windows. I was very happy with everything they did - from the cleanliness of the work to consistency of the caulking around the windows and doors to how professionally pieces fit together.
We received several bids. Tollefson Bros. was by far the most reasonable. Work was completed in 2 1/2 weeks and done in a professional manner. The work crew was easy to talk to and quickly rectified a couple of minor issues that arose during the project. We are very pleased with the results. Our home is 20 years old and was looking tired and dated. We decided on LP Smart siding after considerable research. Our home now looks like brand new. We would use Tollefson Bros. again and would recommend them.
On the day of the second re-scheduled date, the guy called and said he was running late again and said that it's raining and might have to re-schedule. The guy never called and never showed up.

Throughout all my interactions with this company, Jay has always been responsive, polite and cooperative. It is not too difficult to do this when the company is not too busy. However, in couple of instances, I have contacted them when the company has been swamped with other contracts and even then Jay has found time to look into my requests promptly.
Jay was great to work with and our house looks beautiful! I would recommend to anyone.
“Less than pleasant experience”-
Here is my recommendation for you. If you are going to work with Tollefson Brothers (oddly enough I never did meet the other brother through all of this), make sure you request his “Latino” crew and not the “White crew” and I know that that sounds racist but that is the only way to describe the two crews. Require a written estimate and don’t just give him free rein of insurance proceeds. We had an issue because he collected a check from me and I was under the impression that I was paid in full. Unfortunately I got a final bill for over $3100 dollars more that I wasn't expecting seeing I had already paid him a large sum. Get in writing the start and expected completion dates and penalties for not being done by that time. Lastly, I would require Jay to walk around our house barefoot and blindfolded to insure they got every piece of metal off of your lawn because the tarps they put down don’t do anything. Again I like Jay but his crew ruined his reputation for me and I will not be using him for siding and windows that we need in the coming years.
FKING garbage
In summer of 2013, we had a big hail storm that damaged my roof and one side of my house. I obviously called Tollefson Bros. Exterior back to replace the damage siding, put a new roof on my house, and installed new gutters. Again, I was given the same courteous service by the company’s crew and Jay Tollefson. I noticed a few minor issue with the work which I contacted the company about. Again, Jay looked into the issues and had his crew to work and remedy the issues to my satisfaction.

My recent interaction with Tollefson Bros. Exterior was about 2 months ago, when I noticed the seal in one of the windows they had installed in my home has leaked and there was some condensation in between the two panes of glass. I called Jay about the issue, he came over and measured the glass, order a new glass and just 3 days ago his representative came over and replaced the fogged glass with the new one honoring the window’s manufacturer and his warranty.
Then come the day before the re-re-re-scheduled date, the guy texted and said that he can no longer make it and I would have to find someone else.
Called to get a free estimate and the earliest possible date was A WEEK away but I scheduled it anyway. On the day of the work, they contacted and said would be late and wanted to re-schedule and I re-scheduled.
I strongly recommend Tollefson Bros. Exterior for siding, roof and other exterior projects you may have.
I texted the guy the next day and he didn't reply until my second text later in the day. Said that he was would be able to come next week. At this point I was going to say fk it, but took the date anyway.
